With the Met Gala earlier this week and summer just around the corner, I’ve got fashion on my mind! Below is my list of menswear vacation picks for warm weather destinations. I focused on pieces made from lightweight fabrics, boxier cuts and in colors that will allow you to wear many of them all year long.
For a day of exploring
Elwood Clothing’s Rayon Camp Shirt in black
This vintage-inspired boxy shirt is perfect for an active day of sightseeing and exploring. I’d pair it with their nylon shorts also in black and one of their cult-favorite hats. I have this shirt and it’s silky smooth!
A pair of statement shorts
Aimé Leon Dore Eyelet Knit Shorts
I herby declare this summer the summer of statement shorts! I love these eyelet knit striped shorts from Aimé Leon Dore and all of the shorts from Bode’s latest collection. You could pair statement shorts with another pattern for a louder look (as seen above) or a solid-colored shirt for a more paired-back style.
Linen, linen and more linen
Vilebrequin Men’s Linen Pants Solid in White
Menswear, in general, is embracing the looser fitting, straight-leg style of the 90s, but I’ve always thought those kind of cuts are great for vacation wear. These wide-leg linen pants from Vilebrequin are the perfect pair of vacation pants that could transition seamlessly from day to night. I also like these ecru colored cotton-lyocell blend pants from Polo Ralph Lauren.
Warm weather sweater
Gant Cotton Linen Slub Polo Sweater
This always feels like an ironic item to pack for a warm weather vacation, but there will inevitably be that chillier evening at dinner where you wish you had one more layer. I’d pick something with a linen-blend to keep it light weight, like this Gant slub polo sweater or a linen chore jacket.
The swimsuit
Frescobol Carioca Copacabana Slim-Fit Short-Length Printed Swim Shorts
If you’re vacationing right, you will be spending most of your time in a swimsuit. This blue and white design from Frescobol Carioca immediately reminds me of Greece, but is classic enough to work in any destination. For another option or second pair, I also like Faherty’s collection of boardshorts and swim trunks.
What to pack in
Garrett Leight Collector’s Case
I was stoked to find this collector’s case from Garrett Leight. If you’re like me and often bring more than one pair of sunglasses on a trip in addition to your eyeglasses… you need this case! They have some core colors as well as some recently launched tennis-inspired colors, which I think are cool. Dan Levy also makes a similar multiple-glasses travel case.
What to wear on the plane
Lululemon At Ease Jogger in light grey
I’m into the matching set trend (and not just because I have twin babies!), so I’d pick the At Ease joggers from Lululemon. I have a pair and they’re one of my favorite sweats for lounging around the house, running errands, and traveling. Pair it with the matching sweatshirt to complete the matching set. #ad #lululemoncreator
For the destination wedding
Commas Cream Double Breasted Linen Jacket and Cream Tailored Trousers
I am inspired by the relaxed shape of this linen suit from Australian based company, Commas. I’d pair it with their white sheer button-down shirt and a pair of always-out-of-stock JW Anderson backless loafers. Chic!
I’d love to hear from you, what are some of your favorite brands or shops for mens vacation wear?
